CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS (CHT)

 

  • Disease
    WOMEN: 20 - 30% chance of developing cervicitis with a possible spread to uterus, appendages and pelvis, causing 50% of PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) cases, implicated in more or less 20% of all infertility conditions, 10% of all ectopic pregnancy cases and 20% of all chronic algic syndromes of the pelvis.
    MEN: 30 - 50% of all aspecific urethritis and recidivist prostatitis cases.
  • Technique
    Genome identification via PCR - amplification of a DNA sequence (rRNA 16s gene)
  • Samples
    Vaginal, urethral, cervical buffer, urine, sperm, blood.
    Preservation in transport solution at 4° C over a 24/48 - hour period or at -20° C for a longer period.
